Another Second Chance by Troy Lewis
★★★★★Often in my life I’ve held on to the fact that I know God promises He won’t give you more than you can handle. However, like the author, there are times when you watch that hope slip right through your fingers while you stand by helplessly. It’s when that hope is gone and you cry out in desperation that God gives you peace. Like the song says, The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn. The author, Troy Lewis, can certainly attest to that fact.
Troy Lewis was a normal husband and father with a long life ahead of him. When he applied for health insurance and tests were run he was found to have a rare disease, Iga Nephropathy (Berger’s disease). The doctor explained to Troy that even though he was feeling fine and had no symptoms, that by the age of forty he could expect the symptoms to worsen. Troy didn’t spend too much time worrying about his condition, instead enjoying his family and his life. But, when he turned forty the doctor’s prediction came true.
This is a story of perseverance, love and trust. The author fell into a rare (20%) select few who suffer from this disease, and he needed a kidney transplant. His brother was a match, but when he suffered an aneurysm was deemed unacceptable. Troy’s hopes were dashed and time was running out. He groped in the dark for reassurance and desperate for an answer, turned the problem over to God. And God intervened, in the form of a total stranger, who was a match and wanted nothing in return.
This book is a poignant, truthful story of a man’s struggle to overcome a problem he has no control over. In turning it over to God he was able to become victorious through his faith. Better yet, he was inspired to share his journey with others by writing this book. Many of us go through trials and tribulations and never stop to help others by sharing our experiences. Troy Lewis is not that person. He felt led to write this book. If the reviews he’s received thus-far are any indication, the world needed it. He has allowed God to use him as a tool to reach others.
All I can say is thank you!
